Azerbaijan's Main State Traffic Police Department has issued an official warning to citizens regarding fraudulent SMS notifications claiming recipients have outstanding administrative traffic fines. Cyber-fraudsters are utilizing these deceptive messages to lure users to fake websites in an attempt to steal sensitive information.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the official statement identifies asanpayex.cc/az as one of the primary fraudulent domains currently being used to deceive the public.
"The aforementioned website has no connection to government agencies or official payment systems. Citizens are urged not to trust such fake pages. It is particularly dangerous to share personal data and bank card information on these platforms. Verification of administrative fines and subsequent payments should only be conducted through official state platforms," the department stated.
Cybersecurity experts in Azerbaijan note that phishing attacks often increase during periods of digital transition. The Main State Traffic Police Department reminds the public that official notifications regarding traffic violations in Azerbaijan are typically sent through the ASAN Pay system or integrated e-government portals. This warning comes as part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to combat cybercrime and protect the financial security of citizens across the country.
