US President Donald Trump may reduce military support for Ukraine and intensify pressure on NATO and European Union member states.

The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from Politico, indicates that an unnamed European official has raised concerns regarding a potential shift in Washington's foreign policy. According to the source, US President Donald Trump could scale back assistance to Ukraine and increase demands on European allies if the Republican Party sees unfavorable results in the upcoming midterm elections in November. The move is reportedly viewed as a strategy to consolidate support among his primary voter base.

The report further highlights growing concerns regarding the United States' position within the NATO alliance. Sean Parnell, a representative of the US Department of Defense, recently disclosed that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has issued instructions for the withdrawal of 5,000 American troops from Germany. This redeployment process is expected to be finalized within a period of six to twelve months. US President Donald Trump had previously signaled intentions to reduce the military contingent in Germany on April 29, later suggesting that troop levels in Italy and Spain could also be subject to similar reductions.

These developments come amid heightened diplomatic friction between Washington and Berlin. The statements followed criticisms from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz regarding the US administration's policy toward Tehran. In response, US President Donald Trump criticized Chancellor Merz for his stance on Iran's nuclear program. The potential withdrawal of troops marks a significant moment in transatlantic relations, as Germany has historically served as a primary hub for US military operations in Europe and the Middle East since the post-war era. Such strategic shifts are often monitored closely by international observers for their impact on regional security and the collective defense framework of the NATO alliance.
