The Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ADSEA) has transitioned to an intensified work regime to manage and remove excess rainwater following heavy precipitation across Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the United Service for Water Supply of Large Cities and local water departments have been fully mobilized to address the situation.
As part of the emergency safety measures, the Garadagh District Water Department installed an additional reinforced concrete drainage pipe, 1000 mm in diameter and 20 meters in length, to prevent the water level of Puta Lake from rising. Simultaneously, specialized pumping units were deployed to clear accumulated water from the tunnel at the intersection of Heydar Aliyev Avenue and Agha Neymatulla Street, as well as at the 16th kilometer of the Baku-Alat-Gazakh highway.
Restoration and drainage efforts have also extended to other parts of the capital. Employees of the Sabunchu District Water Department identified a damaged evacuation line on Rovshan Salmanov Street in the Mashtaga settlement and repaired an 18-meter section. Currently, rainwater collected in the area is being successfully diverted through the newly restored lines using high-capacity pumps. These measures are part of Azerbaijan's broader infrastructure resilience strategy to mitigate the impact of seasonal weather fluctuations on the capital's transport and residential hubs.
