The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan has issued orange and yellow weather warnings due to expected strong winds across Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several regions from April 27 to 28.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to the official statement, an orange warning has been issued for Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as Gazakh, Agstafa, Shamkir, Tovuz, Naftalan, Goranboy, Dashkasan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Mingachevir, Barda, Tartar, Aghdam, Gobustan, and Gusar. In these areas, north-westerly winds are expected to reach speeds of 20.8 to 28.4 meters per second.

Furthermore, a yellow warning is in effect for Samux, Ganja, Gadabay, Goygol, Zangilan, Yevlax, Lerik, Yardimli, Balakan, Zagatala, Qakh, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, Ismayilli, Goychay, Shamakhi, Quba, Shabran, Siyazan, Khachmaz, Khizi, Salyan, Hajigabul, and Neftchala. In these regions, north-westerly winds will range between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second. The National Hydrometeorological Service uses this color-coded warning system to alert the public and relevant government agencies to potential risks associated with weather conditions, ensuring safety measures can be implemented in a timely manner.

Such weather patterns are characteristic of the transitional spring season in Azerbaijan, where the interaction of different air masses often leads to significant changes in wind speed and atmospheric pressure. Residents and visitors in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution, particularly near tall trees, unfinished buildings, and power lines, as the predicted wind speeds can pose localized hazards to infrastructure and public safety.
