Baku and the Absheron Peninsula are bracing for a significant heatwave, with maximum temperatures expected to reach between 35-38°C, and potentially climbing to near 40°C in some areas on July 25-26.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service has issued an official weather warning regarding the extreme conditions.
The heat is expected to be widespread across the country. In several regions of Azerbaijan, maximum temperatures are forecast to range between 35-40°C from July 25-29. In parts of the Central Aran region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, temperatures could rise as high as 41°C.
Extreme heat events in Azerbaijan are typically managed through public health advisories issued by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local health authorities. Citizens are generally advised to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, stay hydrated, and limit strenuous physical activity to prevent heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke and dehydration.
