The first group of Azerbaijani pilgrims has departed from Saudi Arabia, marking the beginning of the return phase for this year's Hajj pilgrimage.

Vusal Jahangiri, head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Caucasus Muslims Office and director of the Hajj Electronic System, provided this information to the Operative Information Center-OMM.

Jahangiri stated that the first aircraft is scheduled to arrive in Baku at 12:30 local time. "A total of 180 pilgrims are returning to Azerbaijan today. A second flight carrying pilgrims is scheduled to depart later today at 15:50 local time," he noted. He further added that additional flights, operating at a frequency of two per day, are scheduled for June 7 and June 9.

The Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it is obligated to perform at least once in their lifetime. This year, a total of 1,150 pilgrims from Azerbaijan traveled to the holy sites to fulfill their religious duties. The Caucasus Muslims Office coordinates the logistical arrangements, including flight schedules and accommodation, to ensure the safe and organized travel of Azerbaijani citizens participating in the pilgrimage.
