The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has officially suspended all cooperation and relations with the European Parliament across all sectors. This decision was finalized following the adoption of a resolution during a plenary session in Baku, marking a significant shift in the diplomatic engagement between Azerbaijan and the European legislative body.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the resolution terminates Azerbaijan's participation in the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. Furthermore, the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has initiated the formal procedure to exit the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in accordance with its charter. During this transition period, Azerbaijani delegations will not attend any Euronest events. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova announced the formation of a special commission, chaired by Vice-Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov, to oversee the implementation of this decision.

The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) cited the European Parliament's "destructive position" and its consistent disregard for international law as primary reasons for the move. The resolution highlighted that the European Parliament ignored the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia and the subsequent destruction of cultural heritage. It further accused the body of becoming a tool for "pressure, blackmail, and gross interference" in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, particularly following the restoration of territorial integrity under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The document also noted that despite President Ilham Aliyev's commitment to a peace agenda—which recently gained international support through the Washington agreements—the European Parliament has intensified its anti-Azerbaijan rhetoric, passing over 10 biased resolutions since the 44-day Patriotic War and during the COP29 summit.
