A delegation led by Colonel General Karim Valiyev, First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, is currently on a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Defense reported this to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
During the visit, Colonel General Valiyev held a meeting with Lieutenant General Kanish Abubakirov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The parties emphasized that the relationship between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is built on historical bonds of friendship, brotherhood, and strategic partnership. They noted that joint military exercises involving personnel from both nations play a crucial role in enhancing professional skills, facilitating the exchange of experience, and further strengthening cooperation between the two armies.
The meeting featured a broad exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of military cooperation between the two countries, regional security issues, and other topics of mutual interest. In recognition of his significant contribution to the development of bilateral military cooperation, the Kazakh side awarded Colonel General Valiyev the medal "For Contribution to the Development of Military Cooperation."
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have consistently deepened their defense ties in recent years, reflecting the broader strategic alliance between the two Turkic states. These interactions are part of a wider effort to ensure regional stability in the Caspian basin and enhance interoperability between the armed forces of Central Asian and South Caucasian nations.
