Starting from July 15, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) will release into circulation an updated 100-manat banknote featuring a new design and the latest security elements.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports this with reference to the CBA.

According to the bank, central banks periodically update banknotes to strengthen the fight against counterfeiting and implement the latest technologies. Taking this international practice into account, the CBA has initiated the process of updating national banknotes through the application of nano and micro-technologies. Since 2021, updated 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50-manat banknotes have already been introduced into circulation as part of this ongoing process.

The updated 100-manat banknote, dedicated to the theme of "Economy and Development," has had its security system and design enhanced with the latest innovations within the existing concept. The key security features include a hologram that changes color with a 3D micro-mirror effect, the "Spark Flow Prime" element (Manat symbol) emitting a dynamic light effect, and a watermark reflecting the State Emblem and the denomination when held to the light. Additionally, the banknote features special tactile lines for the visually impaired on the front edges and a vertical design on the reverse side, aligning with modern global trends in banknote production.

The updated 100-manat note bears the signature of the Chairman of the CBA, Taleh Kazimov, located in the upper left corner of the front side. The CBA confirmed that the process of adapting all cash systems and equipment in Azerbaijan to the new banknote has already commenced. The updated currency will circulate in parallel with the existing 100-manat notes, and citizens will be able to use both versions as legal tender without any restrictions.

The Azerbaijani manat, introduced in its current form during the denomination of 2006, serves as a symbol of the country's economic sovereignty. The Central Bank's continuous modernization of the currency reflects Azerbaijan's commitment to maintaining a secure and technologically advanced financial infrastructure. These updates are essential for integrating the national currency into modern automated payment systems and ensuring the highest level of protection against sophisticated forgery techniques.
