At least two killed, eight injured in Ukraine-Russia attacks

Two people were killed in Ukrainian drone strikes on Russia’s western Tula region, the region’s governor, Dmitry Milyaev, said.

According to the governor, three more people were injured in the attacks. He said 26 drones had been destroyed over the region during the night.

Ukrainian officials said the number of people injured in Russian airstrikes on Kyiv early Friday had risen to eight. The attacks caused a fire in a nine-storey residential building.

Initial reports on the Russian strikes said two people had been injured. City authorities urged residents to take shelter when drone warnings were issued.

Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service said Ukrainian forces had destroyed an armored combat vehicle, a mortar, cargo and passenger vehicles, a motorcycle, ammunition and fuel depots, communications equipment and shelters belonging to the Russian army.

Ukraine’s attack also damaged an e-commerce company in the Russian city of Saratov.

Both sides have reported regular drone attacks since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The strikes have affected military facilities and energy infrastructure, as well as residential areas, and both governments continue to issue warnings about aerial threats.
