The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have released details regarding the operation that resulted in the killing of Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran's National Security Council.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information was disclosed in an official statement issued by the Israeli military.
"The Israel Defense Forces announce that the Air Force, based on military intelligence and utilizing unique operational capabilities, conducted a precision strike. As a result, Ali Larijani was killed. The strike was carried out while he was in the vicinity of Tehran," the statement noted.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz further confirmed the elimination of high-ranking Iranian officials following the aerial operation. "The Chief of General Staff has informed me of the killing of National Security Council Secretary Larijani and the head of the Basij force," Israeli media quoted Katz as saying.
The operation marks a significant escalation in the ongoing regional tensions between Israel and Iran. The Basij, a paramilitary volunteer militia under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), plays a critical role in Iran's internal security and regional influence. This targeted strike follows a series of high-profile operations aimed at disrupting the command structure of Iranian security apparatuses, reflecting the heightened state of military readiness in the Middle East.
