The text of Armenia's new constitution is not yet ready for publication, as the Ministry of Justice continues to await feedback and proposals from relevant stakeholders.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this statement was made by Armenian Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan regarding the status of the country's constitutional reform process.
The minister indicated that the timeline for releasing the draft remains fluid. "The issue of publishing the text of the constitution was discussed. We are currently waiting for the opinions and notes of certain colleagues. It will take approximately one to two weeks to collect these reviews. After that, one or two more discussions will be held. Only then will we determine whether the text is ready for publication," Galyan stated.
The minister further explained that the previous delay in publishing the document was due to the text not being fully finalized and some experts failing to submit their feedback in a timely manner.
Galyan emphasized that the decision to publish the draft constitution must be made collectively rather than unilaterally. Once a consensus is reached, the final text will be presented to the public.
Constitutional reform in Armenia has been a subject of significant domestic and regional attention. The process, which involves revising the fundamental law of the state, is closely watched by international observers and neighboring countries, particularly given the ongoing normalization processes in the South Caucasus. The current administration's efforts to overhaul the constitution are viewed as a critical step in shaping the country's future legal and political framework.
