Following a technical incident at Baku Metro CJSC on April 21, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, implemented urgent measures to ensure uninterrupted passenger transport in the capital.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed by AYNA that carriers have been instructed to release extra vehicles onto the lines. This initiative involves mobilizing additional buses for all city routes operating along the metro lines to manage the increased demand.
"To regulate passenger flow, the number of buses on routes mirroring metro lines is being increased. This allows for reduced waiting intervals and ensures passengers reach their destinations comfortably and on time. For this reason, the deployment of additional buses continues, particularly at stations where high passenger density is observed, such as Elmlər Akademiyası, Nizami, 28 May, Gənclik, 20 Yanvar, Nəriman Nərimanov, Koroğlu, Qara Qarayev, Neftçilər, Əhmədli, and other main directions of the city," the statement said.
The Baku Metro serves as a vital component of the transportation infrastructure in Azerbaijan, facilitating the daily commute of a significant portion of the capital's population. AYNA, which manages land transport in the country, regularly monitors traffic and passenger density in Baku to optimize public transit efficiency and respond to technical challenges within the urban transport network to ensure the safety and comfort of commuters.
