Negotiations between the United States and Iran are scheduled to take place in Geneva on February 26.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the announcement was made by Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi. According to the minister, representatives from Washington and Tehran will convene in the Swiss city to continue discussions regarding the nuclear dossier.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had previously indicated that a new round of talks with US representatives could occur on February 26 in Geneva. Confirming the schedule on his X social media account, Albusaidi stated:
"I am pleased to confirm that negotiations between the US and Iran are planned to be held in Geneva this Thursday."
The upcoming meeting follows the second round of Iran-US negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program, which was held in Geneva on February 17. Following those discussions, Abbas Araghchi noted that certain progress had been achieved, emphasizing that Tehran and Washington would work on drafting texts that could serve as the foundation for a potential agreement.
The diplomatic engagement comes during a pivotal period for regional security and international non-proliferation efforts. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, these high-level discussions aim to address long-standing concerns regarding Iran's nuclear capabilities and the framework of international sanctions. Oman has historically played a crucial role as a mediator between the two nations, facilitating communication to reduce tensions in the Middle East.
