İran və ABŞ arasında nüvə danışıqlarının ikinci raundu Cenevrədə başlayır

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Geneva ahead of the second round of indirect nuclear negotiations with the United States.

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Iranian state media, reports that the discussions, mediated by Oman, are scheduled to take place on February 17.

Araghchi stated on his X social media account that he traveled to Geneva with "realistic ideas to achieve a fair and equitable deal." The minister also emphasized that Iran would not back down in the face of intimidation. During the visit, Araghchi is also expected to meet with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that while US President Donald Trump favors a diplomatic outcome, there is no full guarantee that an agreement will be reached. Simultaneously, official Washington has deployed additional military forces to the region, including a second aircraft carrier, as a precautionary measure.

The Tehran administration maintains that its nuclear program is for civilian purposes, while Washington remains concerned that high-level enrichment could lead to the development of nuclear weapons. The Geneva meeting is considered a critical test for bridging the significant gaps between the two parties.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), originally signed in 2015, has faced significant challenges since the US withdrawal from the pact in 2018. These renewed diplomatic efforts in Geneva represent a pivotal moment for regional stability and international non-proliferation efforts, as global powers seek to establish a framework that addresses both Iran's economic interests and international security concerns.
