Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has commented on reports regarding the Pentagon's request for more than $200 billion in additional funding for potential military engagement against Iran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the minister shared his views on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
“We are only three weeks into this war, which has been forced upon both Iranians and Americans. This $200 billion is just the tip of the iceberg. Ordinary Americans can soon thank Benjamin Netanyahu and his supporters in Congress for a trillion-dollar ‘Israel-first’ tax that will strike the US economy,” Araghchi wrote.
The Washington Post, citing a high-ranking administration source, reported that this amount significantly exceeds previously disclosed figures regarding the cost of the military campaign. The US Department of Defense and the White House have declined to comment on the matter.
The statements come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing discussions regarding US President Donald Trump's administration's fiscal policy and foreign military commitments.
