Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described the United States and Israel as "aggressors" regarding the ongoing conflicts in the region.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Araghchi held a meeting with South Korean special envoy Chang Byung-ha in Tehran on Thursday. During the discussions, the parties reviewed a range of issues, including regional developments, maritime security, and bilateral relations between the two nations.
Araghchi emphasized that the administration of US President Donald Trump and Israel bear direct responsibility for the consequences of the wars occurring in the region. He stated that both countries are acting as "aggressors" in these processes. The ministry further noted that the officials discussed the vital importance of maintaining regional stability and the necessity of keeping diplomatic channels open to prevent further escalation.
The meeting takes place against a backdrop of significant geopolitical tension in the Middle East, where maritime security in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waterways remains a primary concern for global energy markets. South Korea, as a major importer of energy resources, maintains a strategic interest in the stability of these trade routes. This diplomatic engagement highlights Tehran's efforts to communicate its regional perspectives to international partners while addressing the broader implications of Western involvement in regional security dynamics.
