Azerbaijan's Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, has met with a delegation led by the Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed about the meeting by the Ministry of Defense. During the discussions, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are built on a rich, centuries-old history. He highlighted that high-level mutual visits and joint military exercises significantly contribute to the further deepening of bilateral ties.
Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh noted the importance of developing cooperation in the military sphere, mirroring the friendly and brotherly relations existing in other sectors. The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of cooperation in military, military-technical, military-educational, and scientific fields. The parties also conducted a comprehensive exchange of views on regional security and other issues of mutual interest.
This meeting takes place within the framework of strengthening regional diplomacy and defense ties between the two neighboring nations. Azerbaijan and Iran have recently increased their engagement through joint military commissions and collaborative efforts to ensure stability in the South Caucasus. Such high-level dialogues are instrumental in fostering mutual trust and coordinating responses to shared security challenges in the region.
