The Main State Traffic Police Department of Azerbaijan has issued a safety warning to drivers and pedestrians regarding expected unstable weather conditions across the country. According to official forecasts, the coming days will see a significant shift in weather, characterized by strong winds and varying intensities of precipitation.

In a statement provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the department urged all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations. "Drivers must adjust their speed according to the road and weather conditions, maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead, and avoid sharp maneuvers or unnecessary overtaking," the statement noted. The police emphasized the importance of ensuring that vehicle headlights and signal lights are in good working order, adding that low-beam and clearance lights should remain on. Furthermore, pedestrians were advised to use designated crossings and remain vigilant in limited visibility conditions. The department also warned that strong winds create significant risks for two-wheeled vehicles, such as mopeds and scooters, increasing the likelihood of losing balance and overturning.

The Main State Traffic Police Department regularly issues such advisories during seasonal transitions to mitigate the risk of road accidents in Azerbaijan. These measures are part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to enhance road safety and reduce fatalities during adverse weather conditions. Historically, seasonal changes in Azerbaijan often bring sudden climatic shifts, particularly in the Absheron Peninsula and mountainous regions, requiring heightened vigilance from both local and transit motorists to ensure public safety.
