New infrastructure changes are set to be implemented in Baku's Yasamal district to eliminate chronic traffic congestion and optimize vehicle flow toward Ziya Bunyadov Avenue.

The Azerbaijan Yerüstü Nəqliyyat Agentliyi (AYNA) informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that recent analyses identified a major bottleneck involving vehicles traveling from Abdulvahab Salamzade Street. Currently, drivers heading toward Ziya Bunyadov Avenue must use a U-turn located on Tbilisi Avenue, a maneuver that significantly disrupts the flow of traffic and leads to severe delays during peak hours.

According to the official statement, drivers turning right from A. Salamzade Street are forced to cross multiple lanes in a short distance to reach the U-turn lane. This maneuver reduces the overall speed of the traffic stream and weakens the road's carrying capacity. To resolve this, the existing median barrier will be removed, providing a direct exit from Abdulvahab Salamzade Street to Ziya Bunyadov Avenue. This modification will eliminate the need for hazardous U-turns and increase the fluidity of movement in the capital.

As part of the project, the intersection of Tbilisi Avenue and A. Salamzade Street will be regulated by traffic lights, and new crossing opportunities will be created to ensure the safe and comfortable movement of pedestrians.

AYNA emphasizes that these measures will significantly enhance road safety and convenience for both drivers and pedestrians in Azerbaijan's capital. This initiative is part of a broader urban development strategy in Baku aimed at modernizing the city's transport network. In recent years, the government of Azerbaijan has prioritized the integration of intelligent transport systems and the expansion of road infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of vehicles in the metropolitan area, ensuring more efficient transit between major residential and business hubs.
