A major fire broke out on Wednesday at a warehouse belonging to the Kontakt Home retail chain in the Lokbatan settlement of the Garadagh district in Baku.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the company released a statement regarding the incident on its official social media channels. "The most important thing is that no one was injured; all individuals at the site are safe. We express our gratitude to the emergency medical and firefighting services for their rapid response," the statement read. The company also noted that the incident may cause short-term delays in the delivery of certain orders, adding that affected customers will be contacted directly as soon as the situation is fully assessed.
Kontakt Home is one of the largest retail networks in Azerbaijan, specializing in the sale of electronics, household appliances, and furniture with dozens of stores across the country. The Lokbatan area, where the fire occurred, serves as a critical logistics and commercial hub for the capital, housing several major shopping centers and large-scale storage facilities. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (FHN) deployed multiple firefighting crews and equipment to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring structures. An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to follow the complete cooling of the site.
