On February 26, Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Sahiba Gafarova, Head of the Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev, and other state and government officials visited the memorial to the victims of the Khojaly genocide on its 34th anniversary.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the officials laid flowers at the monument and paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the tragedy.

On the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenian armed forces, with the participation of the 366th regiment of the former Soviet army stationed in Khankendi, razed the town of Khojaly to the ground. As a result of the mass massacre committed by Armenian aggressors against the people of Azerbaijan, 613 people were killed with extreme cruelty, including 106 women, 63 children, and 70 elderly people. During the tragedy, 1,275 peaceful residents were taken prisoner, while the fate of 150 people remains unknown. The genocide resulted in 8 families being completely wiped out, 25 children losing both parents, and 130 children losing one parent.

The Khojaly genocide is recognized as one of the most horrific crimes against humanity in modern history. Azerbaijan continues its efforts to achieve international political and legal recognition of the massacre. To date, the legislative bodies of numerous countries and several international organizations have officially recognized the events in Khojaly as an act of genocide and a crime against humanity, emphasizing the importance of justice for the victims and the restoration of historical truth in the region.
