Transport, digital infrastructure, green energy, and the new stage of the extractive industry serve as the main pillars of Azerbaijan's modern development model, as emphasized by President Ilham Aliyev at the Davos platform.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov made this statement during the presentation of the Cabinet of Ministers' 2025 activity report at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly).

"The dynamics observed particularly in the transport, logistics, and information-communication sectors during the reporting year indicate the formation of new growth sources for the economy. In 2025, 13% of the non-oil GDP was generated by these sectors. The increase in freight and passenger transportation confirms the strengthening of Azerbaijan's regional transit role and demonstrates that the Middle Corridor strategy has become a reality. The expansion of the information and communication services sector shows the strengthening of the economy's technological component, where productivity increases through knowledge, digitalization, and innovation alongside physical capital," Prime Minister Ali Asadov noted.

The Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, is a key strategic initiative aimed at connecting China and the European Union through Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Turkiye. Azerbaijan plays a pivotal role in this network, leveraging its geographical position and modern infrastructure, such as the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, to facilitate efficient trade flows between East and West. This diversification strategy is central to Azerbaijan's long-term goal of reducing economic reliance on the hydrocarbon sector while fostering a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.
