A 3.9 magnitude earthquake has been recorded in the Caspian Sea, according to the Earthquake Research Bureau of the Republican Seismic Survey Center.
The seismic event was registered at 06:30 local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 62 kilometers, the Operative Information Center-OMM reported.
The Caspian Sea region is seismically active due to its complex geological structure, which involves the interaction of various tectonic plates. While earthquakes of this magnitude are relatively common in the region, they are frequently monitored by the Republican Seismic Survey Center to ensure public safety and infrastructure integrity across Azerbaijan, particularly in the Absheron Peninsula and Baku.
