A suspect has been detained in the Khatai district of Baku for allegedly stealing 20,000 AZN worth of cash and jewelry from a relative's apartment. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that the individual was identified and apprehended following a targeted operation by local law enforcement.
According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the MIA, the theft involved 15,000 AZN in cash and jewelry valued at 5,000 AZN. Officers from the 35th Police Station of the Khatai District Police Department identified the suspect as 30-year-old I. Huseynov, a relative of the victim. Investigations revealed that the suspect entered the residence on multiple occasions, stealing the assets in installments over a period of time.
Property crimes and thefts in Azerbaijan are strictly prosecuted under the Criminal Code, with the Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducting operations to ensure public safety and the protection of private property in the capital and regional centers. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and further investigative measures are currently underway to determine all circumstances of the crime.
