Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has issued a sharp response to claims made by US President Donald Trump regarding American military power, asserting that Washington's strategic objectives against Tehran will remain unfulfilled.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Supreme Leader emphasized that the military might of the United States is not invincible. “They claim their army is the strongest in the world. However, even the strongest army can sometimes receive such a blow that it can never stand up again,” Khamenei stated during his address.
Touching upon threats regarding the deployment of US warships to Iranian waters, he noted that weapons capable of sinking those ships to the bottom of the sea are far more dangerous. Khamenei also drew attention to one of the recent speeches by the US President. “The President admitted that for 47 years, America has been unable to eliminate the Islamic Republic. This is an important admission, and I say: you will not be able to do this in the future either. The Iranian people know their Islamic and Shia lessons well and will never pledge allegiance to corrupt leaders,” he added.
The relationship between Washington and Tehran has remained strained for decades, characterized by economic sanctions, regional proxy conflicts, and disputes over Iran's nuclear program. Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the United States and Iran have lacked formal diplomatic relations, with tensions frequently escalating over maritime security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil supplies. This latest exchange highlights the ongoing geopolitical friction between the two nations as US President Donald Trump continues to maintain a firm stance on Middle Eastern security and Iranian influence in the region.
