The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will play a pivotal role in any potential agreement between Iran and the United States regarding Tehran's nuclear program.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these remarks were made by Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Baghaei emphasized that the participation of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in the Geneva negotiations is highly beneficial for the diplomatic process. "In any concluded agreement, the agency will act as an internationally recognized technical body and will bear specific responsibilities. As with previous agreements, the IAEA's role across various fields was quite clear. Therefore, Grossi's involvement in these talks is both essential and productive," the spokesperson added.
The discussions come at a critical juncture as international mediators seek to navigate the complexities of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The involvement of the IAEA is seen as a technical guarantee for the verification of nuclear commitments, ensuring that any diplomatic roadmap is backed by rigorous monitoring and transparency. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, the global community is closely watching for shifts in Washington's approach toward regional security and non-proliferation efforts.
