The temporary special traffic lanes established for the transport management of the Thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) will be decommissioned following the conclusion of the event.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Azerbaijan Yerüstü Nəqliyyat Agentliyi (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, that the 5.9 road signs indicating bus lanes will be removed starting tomorrow. Once the signs are removed, the lanes will no longer be restricted, and drivers in Baku will be permitted to enter these sections freely.
According to the relevant decision of the Transport Coordination Council, the special traffic lane established on Mehdi Abbasov Street will remain in effect. This measure is intended to ensure the unimpeded and continuous movement of public transport passing through this specific area. Drivers are urged to remain vigilant and comply with legal requirements in lanes where road signs are still present.
The World Urban Forum (WUF) is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization, established by the United Nations to examine the most pressing issues facing the world today in the area of human settlements. Hosting such international events in Azerbaijan necessitates temporary infrastructure adjustments to manage increased traffic flow and ensure the safety of high-level delegates and participants. The removal of these temporary lanes marks the transition of the capital's transport network back to its standard operating schedule following the successful hosting of the forum.
