Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has announced the suspension of its flight operations to Israel until May 4, citing ongoing security concerns in the region.

According to reports from the Ynet portal, the Operative Information Center-OMM notes that this decision comes just four days after the airline had initially announced a phased resumption of ticket sales for Tel Aviv flights, which was originally scheduled to begin on April 25.

The suspension follows a period of significant regional instability. On February 28, US President Donald Trump and Israel initiated military operations against Iran, which resulted in the deaths of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking officials. In response, Iran launched strikes against targets in Israel, as well as locations hosting military bases of the United States and its allies in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Cyprus. Although a two-week ceasefire was agreed upon between Iran, the United States, and their allies on the night of April 8, 2026, aviation companies remain cautious regarding the safety of the Middle Eastern airspace.

Wizz Air, one of Europe's largest budget airlines, frequently adjusts its flight schedules to the Middle East based on real-time security assessments. Such suspensions are common practice in the aviation industry to ensure passenger and crew safety during periods of geopolitical volatility. Passengers affected by these cancellations are typically offered full refunds or rebooking options as the carrier continues to monitor the diplomatic and military situation in the region.
