Operations of the Baku Metro CJSC have been fully restored following a technical malfunction that disrupted service on several lines earlier today. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, train intervals have returned to normal schedules, and all stations in the capital are now open to passengers.
The disruption began at approximately 12:10 PM when a high-voltage power supply fault occurred on the contact rail between the Ulduz and Narimanov stations. In a statement to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Baku Metro CJSC confirmed that passengers were safely evacuated from trains stalled in tunnels and that no injuries were reported. "We apologize to passengers for the inconvenience and thank them for their patience," the metro authority stated, noting that technical teams worked urgently to resolve the issue within hours.
The Baku Metro, which began operations in 1967, serves as the primary backbone of public transportation in Baku, Azerbaijan. It currently consists of three lines—Green, Red, and Purple—spanning over 40 kilometers and serving hundreds of thousands of commuters daily. This incident, which caused temporary delays on the Narimanov–Ahmedli route, was managed according to standard safety protocols to ensure the security of both the infrastructure and the public.
