Intense rainfall has been reported across several regions of Azerbaijan, with particularly heavy downpours causing significant precipitation levels in the northwestern part of the country. The weather conditions, characterized by intermittent lightning and torrential rain, have impacted local infrastructure and agricultural areas.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited data from the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 10:00 a.m. on July 8, the Balakan-Sheki zone experienced the most significant rainfall intensity.

Official data indicates that precipitation levels in Alibey reached 165 mm, which accounts for 140% of the monthly norm for Zaqatala. Other notable measurements include 57 mm in Zaqatala (74% of the monthly norm) and 52 mm in Balakan (67% of the monthly norm). Lesser amounts were recorded in Saribash (Qax), Sadarak, Gadabay, Sharur, Aghstafa, Tovuz, Lerik, Sheki (Kishchay), Guba, Dashkasan, Ganja, Shamkir, Gusar, Oghuz, Khaltan, Griz, Barda, Zardab, Imishli, Yevlax, Kalbajar, Lachin, Qubadli, Shusha, as well as in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, where rainfall remained below 1 mm.

The region is currently experiencing strong northwesterly winds, with maximum speeds reaching 21 m/s in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and 19 m/s in Julfa. Heavy rainfall events in the mountainous regions of Azerbaijan are often associated with the country's diverse climate, which ranges from subtropical to alpine, frequently leading to sudden hydrological changes in river basins during the summer months.
