The Military Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an extended collegium meeting to review the results of the first half of 2026. The session focused on efforts to combat crime, strengthen the rule of law, and protect human rights and freedoms within the Armed Forces, as well as outlining future objectives.

Before the meeting, participants paid tribute to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the "Heydar Aliyev Corner" in the administrative building of the Military Prosecutor's Office. Following this, attendees observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of the National Leader and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, while also wishing a speedy recovery to those wounded in service.
Deputy Prosecutor General and Military Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Justice Major General Bahruz Ahmadov, delivered a keynote report. He highlighted the significant progress achieved across all sectors in Azerbaijan over the past 23 years under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, who has skillfully continued the wise policies of the National Leader. He further emphasized the substantial contributions of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva to the country's ongoing development.
The Military Prosecutor noted that the first half of 2026, much like the previous year, has been marked by successes within the prosecution system under the leadership of Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev. The activities of the Military Prosecutor's Office have been directed toward ensuring the rule of law and preventing unlawful acts within the Armed Forces. It was reported that, due to comprehensive and objective investigations, 99 percent of all recorded crimes have been successfully solved.
Furthermore, the report highlighted that cooperation between the Military Prosecutor's Office and other military institutions has played a vital role in strengthening the rule of law. Consequently, compared to the first half of the previous year, overall recorded crimes decreased by 0.9 percent, while non-military crimes saw a 4.9 percent reduction. Significant declines were also reported in specific categories: evasion of military service dropped by 21.2 percent, negligence in service by 9.1 percent, and violations of rules regarding the handling of weapons and dangerous items by 50 percent. Additionally, crimes related to the theft or extortion of firearms and ammunition decreased by 75 percent, traffic violations by 16.7 percent, hooliganism by 71.4 percent, and bribery-related offenses by 42.3 percent.
The meeting also addressed efforts to recover state, physical, and legal entity assets that were embezzled or wasted. Regarding public engagement, it was noted that the Military Prosecutor's Office's "962 Hotline" received over 400 inquiries during the reporting period.
Following the report, participants discussed the work accomplished and outlined measures to fulfill upcoming tasks. While acknowledging the successes, the leadership also identified certain shortcomings and demanded necessary measures to address them.
Concluding the meeting, the Military Prosecutor expressed gratitude for the state's support of the prosecution system and the attention provided by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev. He affirmed that the staff of the Military Prosecutor's Office remains committed to protecting national interests, upholding the rule of law, and strengthening military discipline within the Armed Forces.
