In accordance with the 2026 combat training plan, large-scale operational exercises are being conducted under the leadership of the Land Forces command, involving various military units of the Azerbaijan Army.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Defense.
The ministry stated that the exercises involve personnel from commando, motorized rifle, mechanized, and artillery brigades, as well as logistics units and military reservists called up for mobilization training.
During the initial phase, troops were brought to a state of high combat readiness. Key maneuvers included the transport of personnel and equipment by rail, the movement of military units over long distances by road—including under limited visibility conditions—and the occupation of operational and combat deployment areas and defensive lines. The maneuvers demonstrated high levels of organization.
Within the framework of the operational exercises, live-fire tactical and special tactical drills were conducted simultaneously across various training centers and ranges, with logistics tasks practiced in real-world scenarios.
Tactical activities were executed by incorporating lessons learned from the Patriotic War and recent armed conflicts worldwide. The Azerbaijan Army utilized its arsenal of modern unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), electronic warfare systems, radio-technical reconnaissance equipment, and high-precision weapon systems in a complex, integrated manner. Personnel demonstrated high professionalism in executing aerial and radio-technical reconnaissance missions and conducting practical live-fire exercises.
Throughout the exercises, new methods and techniques of combat operations were tested. The training focused on enhancing the independent decision-making skills of commanders, as well as improving the combat proficiency and field skills of personnel in high-mountainous, forested, and urban environments.
The leadership of the Ministry of Defense, who monitored the progress of the large-scale operational exercises, positively assessed the combat performance of the formations and units. It was noted that all assigned tasks were fully executed, and the objectives of the training were successfully achieved.
