The ongoing conflict in Lebanon has resulted in significant loss of life and a massive wave of displacement across the country.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Al Jazeera, that the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate as military operations intensify.
Lebanese authorities have announced that since March 2, more than one million people have been registered as internally displaced persons. Of these, over 130,000 have been accommodated in approximately 600 temporary shelters. The Israeli military has issued evacuation warnings to residents of southern Lebanon, with Israel Katz stating that displaced Lebanese citizens should not return to their homes until the safety of northern Israeli residents is fully guaranteed.
According to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA), the Israeli Air Force has conducted multiple strikes on various districts of Beirut. In response, Hezbollah reportedly targeted areas where Israeli troops were concentrated near the Cedeid Mais al-Jabal region on the Lebanese border during the night of March 17. These escalations follow the commencement of a limited ground operation by the Israeli army in southern Lebanon on March 16.
Data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health indicates that since the start of the renewed hostilities against Hezbollah, Israeli attacks have resulted in at least 886 fatalities, including 67 women and 111 children, while 2,141 others have sustained injuries. The escalating violence has drawn international concern regarding the stability of the Middle East and the potential for a wider regional conflict. Diplomatic efforts remain ongoing as global powers seek to mitigate the humanitarian crisis and prevent further civilian casualties in the region.
