More than 100 million manats have been attracted to private projects in the city of Khankendi, as well as the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, resulting in the employment of approximately 4,000 people in Azerbaijan's liberated territories.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly, made these remarks during an event titled "Post-Conflict Urban Planning: Restoring Destroyed Identity and Rebuilding an Integrated Future." The session was held at the Azerbaijan pavilion within the framework of the 13th Session of the United Nations (UN) World Urban Forum (WUF13).
Yusubov detailed the growing business interest in the region, noting that 426 cooperation agreements have been signed in Khankendi, 80 in Aghdara, and 138 in Khojaly. "These agreements encompass various sectors, including trade, finance, agriculture, industrial enterprises, and other services," the special representative added, emphasizing the rapid economic integration of these territories into the national economy.
The large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects in Garabagh are part of Azerbaijan's "Great Return" program, which aims to revitalize the infrastructure and economy of lands liberated from occupation. The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations, serves as the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization, providing a platform for Azerbaijan to showcase its unique model of post-conflict reconstruction and the transition from mine-clearing operations to the establishment of "smart" cities and villages.
