An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 occurred in the Caspian Sea on Tuesday morning, according to official reports. The tremors were recorded at 09:57 local time.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reported that the Earthquake Research Bureau of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) confirmed the seismic event. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 20 kilometers.
Seismic activity in the Caspian Sea region has shown a notable increase in recent weeks. According to data from the Republican Seismic Survey Center, a total of 18 earthquakes were recorded in the Caspian basin during the month of April. Azerbaijan is situated in a seismically active zone, and the Caspian Sea frequently experiences low to moderate intensity tremors due to its complex tectonic structure. Experts monitor these events continuously to ensure public safety and infrastructure integrity in the coastal regions and offshore installations.
