President Ilham Aliyev met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Gabala on April 25. The meeting, which included both one-on-one and expanded formats, took place as part of the Ukrainian leader's working visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the discussions, the heads of state expressed satisfaction with their previous meetings and emphasized that this visit would provide a significant opportunity to further bilateral cooperation. The sides exchanged views on expanding ties across various sectors, particularly in energy and agriculture, while also reviewing the ongoing activities of the Intergovernmental Commission. President Zelenskyy expressed his deep gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijan's consistent humanitarian support and the special attention given to the welfare of Ukrainian children. It was also highlighted that a group of Ukrainian students is expected to visit Azerbaijan soon for rehabilitation purposes and to familiarize themselves with the country's culture and arts.
Azerbaijan and Ukraine maintain a strategic partnership based on the principles of international law and mutual respect for territorial integrity. Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Azerbaijan has provided extensive humanitarian assistance, including the delivery of medical supplies, food products, and energy equipment to support the civilian population.
