Police officers have conducted an operation against the illicit drug trade in the Jabrayil settlement located in the Bilasuvar district, resulting in the seizure of a significant narcotics shipment.
According to information provided by the MIA Press Service to the Operative Information Center-OMM, employees of the Jabrayil District Police Department detained Zaur Akbarov and Ramil Abizada on suspicion of drug trafficking. During the search, officers discovered and seized 5 kilograms and 650 grams of marijuana along with 60 methadone pills as material evidence.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and a preventive measure of arrest has been ordered for both individuals by the court. Azerbaijan continues to intensify its efforts against the illegal drug trade, with the Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducting operations in border regions and settlements to prevent the distribution of controlled substances and protect public health. The Bilasuvar district, located in the southern part of Azerbaijan, remains a key area for law enforcement monitoring due to its proximity to transit routes.
