Five individuals suspected of committing a series of thefts from markets have been detained in Baku, Azerbaijan.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, police received reports regarding thefts from three markets located in the Nasimi, Yasamal, and Binagadi districts of the capital. As a result of measures conducted by police officers, G. Rzayev, T. Poladov, O. Safarov, Ch. Guliyev, and A. Jafarzade were identified and detained as suspects. Investigations revealed that the group primarily targeted tobacco products and alcoholic beverages, which they subsequently sold to other retail outlets at prices significantly below market value.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to conduct comprehensive investigations into the facts to determine the full extent of the group's criminal activities. In Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its local police departments maintain a rigorous stance against property crimes to ensure public order and the security of commercial enterprises. Such operations are part of ongoing efforts by Azerbaijani law enforcement to combat organized retail theft and protect the interests of small and medium-sized businesses in the capital.
