A specialized training program titled "Fundamentals of Hotel Management" was held in Baku and the Absheron region from April 20 to 30 to prepare the hospitality sector for major upcoming international events. The initiative, jointly organized by the State Tourism Agency and the Azerbaijan Hotel Association, targeted the management staff of various accommodation facilities.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the primary objective of the program is to ensure high-level reception for guests arriving for the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place in Baku this May. The training focused on enhancing professional skills, service quality, hygiene standards, and overall management efficiency. Participants attended three free modules covering guest satisfaction, behavioral standards, team management, and communication models.
The World Urban Forum is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization, established by the United Nations to examine the most pressing issues facing the world today in terms of rapid urbanization and its impact on communities. By hosting WUF13, Azerbaijan continues to solidify its reputation as a global hub for high-level international summits and diplomatic gatherings. This training program is part of a broader strategy by the Republic of Azerbaijan to align its tourism infrastructure with international excellence and hospitality standards.
At the conclusion of the event, certificates were presented to successful participants by Rashad Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Narmin Aktash, Director of the Industry Development Department, and Asmar Shabanova, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Hotel Association. Efforts to improve service quality and guest satisfaction in the local hospitality industry remain a continuous priority for the state.
