Police in Baku have removed 43 kilograms of narcotics from illegal circulation during a specialized operation in the capital, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the operation was conducted by officers of the MIA Main Drug Enforcement Department. During the measures, Farid Ahmadov, his acquaintance Punhan Jalilov, Taleh Sadigov, and Ruslan Huseynli were detained. A total of 43 kilograms and 500 grams of marijuana, enriched with harmful substances, was discovered and seized from the suspects.

Investigations revealed that the detainees planned to distribute the narcotics at various locations across the city for financial gain. Criminal cases have been initiated regarding the facts, and by court order, a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen for each of the detained individuals.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan continues to intensify its efforts against the illicit drug trade and organized crime. These operations are part of a broader national strategy to ensure public safety and combat the distribution of controlled substances within the country. The Main Drug Enforcement Department regularly conducts such targeted interventions to disrupt supply chains and prevent the transit of narcotics through the region.
