By the end of this year, the long-awaited "Digital Nomad Visa" and "Digital Talent Visa" programs will be implemented in Azerbaijan through a unified platform.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this innovation is officially reflected in the "Action Plan for 2026–2028 on Accelerating Digital Development," which was approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the document, the following significant changes are planned during the reporting period:
- Establishment of a "Special Tax Regime";
- Application of concessions regarding social insurance and residency;
- Review of regulations related to foreign currency transfers.
Under the Action Plan, migration requirements will be simplified specifically for specialists attracted to the country in the innovation sector and their family members. The financing for these measures will be provided by the state budget and other sources stipulated by law.
This initiative is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to transform the country into a regional technological hub. By attracting remote workers and high-tech experts, the government aims to foster a vibrant innovation ecosystem and diversify the national economy. Similar "Digital Nomad" programs have been successfully implemented in various global tech centers to boost local spending and knowledge exchange without impacting the domestic labor market.
