Yellow and orange weather warnings have been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several regions across Azerbaijan due to expected high wind conditions from February 14-16.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the National Hydrometeorological Service has released an official statement regarding the deteriorating weather conditions. According to the service, an orange alert has been issued for Kalbajar, Goranboy, Dashkasan, Naftalan, Barda, Qusar, Gobustan, Khizi, and Mingachevir, where north-westerly winds are expected to reach speeds of 20.8-28.4 m/s.

In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as other regions of the country, a yellow alert will be in effect. The north-westerly wind in these areas is projected to maintain speeds between 13.9 and 20.7 m/s. The National Hydrometeorological Service advises the public to remain cautious, as such wind speeds can impact outdoor activities and temporary structures. These seasonal weather shifts are common in Azerbaijan during February, often driven by the interaction of cold air masses from the north and the unique topography of the Caucasus region.
