Heavy rains hit parts of Azerbaijan, snow recorded in Shahdag

Thunderstorms and intermittent rain have been observed across most of the territory of Azerbaijan. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this update was provided by the National Hydrometeorological Service based on data recorded as of 11:00 on July 1.

In several regions, precipitation has been intense and heavy in nature. Notably, snowfall was observed in the high-altitude areas of Shahdag, specifically at elevations above 3,500 meters.

The recorded rainfall amounts include 46 mm in Shaki (76% of the monthly norm), 36 mm in Oguz (54% of the monthly norm), 20 mm in Goychay (93% of the monthly norm), 16 mm in Aghdam (55% of the monthly norm), and 15 mm in Gabala. Other regions, including Yevlakh, Mingachevir, and Khizi, also reported significant rainfall, while Baku and the Absheron Peninsula recorded 2 mm of precipitation.

The National Hydrometeorological Service regularly monitors weather patterns across Azerbaijan to provide timely warnings for agriculture, transport, and public safety. Such fluctuations in weather, including summer snowfall in high-mountainous areas like Shahdag, are characteristic of the country's diverse climatic zones, which range from subtropical to alpine.
