Officers of the 11th platoon of the Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have detained a driver for operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics on the 143rd kilometer of the Alat–Astara highway. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the driver of the Range Rover with license plate 90-YC-977, identified as Ali Rasulov, attempted to evade responsibility by performing dangerous maneuvers on the road. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed that Rasulov was driving while intoxicated by drugs.
The collected materials regarding the incident were submitted to the relevant court for legal evaluation. By court order, the driver has been placed under administrative arrest for his violations. The Main State Traffic Police Department reiterated that decisive measures are being taken in accordance with the law against drivers who grossly violate traffic rules and pose a threat to other road participants, noting that strict supervision in this direction will continue.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that the primary objective of such enforcement actions is not merely punitive, but rather to protect the lives and health of citizens while ensuring overall road safety in Azerbaijan. In recent years, Azerbaijan has significantly tightened its traffic legislation and increased the use of electronic surveillance systems to reduce road accidents and combat driving under the influence of prohibited substances.
