Human skeletal remains have been discovered in the village of Bash Guney, located in the Aghdara region.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the discovered bone fragments are believed to belong to the family members of Balay Alasgar oglu Garibov.
The remains were unearthed in the courtyard of the family's former residence during a search conducted by his grandson, Bakhtiyar Asgarov.
It should be noted that on March 12, 1992, when the village of Bash Guney was occupied by Armenian armed forces, five members of the family went missing. These individuals include Balay Alasgar oglu Garibov (born 1890), his wife Saray Eyvaz gizi Ismayilova (born 1928), their daughters Zabila Balay gizi Alasgarova (born 1946) and Ramila Balay gizi Alasgarova (born 1954), and their granddaughter Nargiz Aydin gizi Khudaverdiyeva (born 1972). Their fate had remained unknown for over three decades.
The recovered skeletal remains have been collected by the relevant authorities and submitted for forensic examination to confirm their identity.
The discovery of such remains is a recurring issue in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, where the aftermath of the occupation continues to reveal the tragic fate of civilians who disappeared during the conflict. The government of Azerbaijan continues to prioritize the identification of missing persons and the investigation of war crimes committed during the occupation of Garabagh.
