The second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, mediated by the United States, has taken place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media outlets, that the high-level meeting aimed to address critical aspects of the ongoing conflict and explore potential pathways for de-escalation.
Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and head of the Kyiv delegation, stated that the trilateral talks between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine will continue in specialized working groups. "The next stage of negotiations has begun in Abu Dhabi. The process was held in a trilateral format. Subsequently, work will be conducted in separate groups focusing on specific areas, after which a joint synchronization of positions is planned," Umerov noted. The discussions are expected to continue through the following day.
The involvement of the United States as a mediator underscores the strategic importance of these diplomatic efforts. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, Washington has intensified its role in facilitating direct communication between the warring parties. Abu Dhabi has increasingly become a neutral ground for such high-stakes diplomacy, providing a secure environment for international mediators to address complex security and humanitarian issues. These talks follow previous efforts to establish a framework for sustainable peace in the region.
