A suspect has been detained in connection with a major theft involving 40,000 manats worth of goods from a private residence in the Absheron district. The stolen items included construction materials, a heating system (combi boiler), and various automobile spare parts.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) identified the suspect as 38-year-old R. Mahmudov. Law enforcement officials noted that Mahmudov has prior convictions for theft and drug-related offenses. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had already sold a portion of the stolen property before being apprehended by the police.
The Absheron district, particularly the city of Khirdalan, has seen rapid residential development in recent years, making construction sites and new homes frequent targets for property crimes. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to intensify its efforts to combat theft and ensure public safety in the suburban areas surrounding Baku. An investigation into the incident is currently underway to determine the full extent of the damages and recover the remaining stolen items.
