“USS Abraham Lincoln” Orta Şərqdən qayıdır: 250 gündən çox fasiləsiz xidmət

The US Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is returning to its home base in San Diego, California, following the conclusion of a prolonged mission in the Middle East.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the vessel carries a crew of approximately 5,000 sailors and marines. The mission, originally scheduled to conclude in May, was extended to nine months due to ongoing operations in the region. The crew spent over 200 consecutive days at sea without docking, totaling more than 250 days of continuous service.

Recent reports from families of the service members have raised concerns regarding living conditions aboard the ship, including claims of food supply limitations, intermittent hot water, and significant delays in mail delivery. These reports suggested that such conditions contributed to psychological strain among the personnel. However, Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command, visited the ship to announce the return, while US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that reports regarding poor conditions were exaggerated and that necessary measures had been taken to ensure the welfare of the crew.

The USS Abraham Lincoln is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, a cornerstone of US naval power projection. Its deployment to the Middle East underscores the strategic importance the US places on maintaining stability in the region, particularly regarding maritime security and deterrence. As the USS Abraham Lincoln departs, the USS George Washington has arrived in the US Central Command area of responsibility to assume the mission, ensuring a continuous US naval presence in the region.
