Military aircraft belonging to the United States and Israel have targeted the data center of the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, according to international media reports.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the facility, which supports Iran's artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, was hit during the operation. While the strike caused significant damage to the technical infrastructure, no casualties have been reported following the incident.
The targeted facility provided essential infrastructure for thousands of digital services in addition to the country's primary AI platforms. In a video message released after the attack, the university's rector, Masoud Tehranchi, condemned the strike, emphasizing that the institution is dedicated to the dissemination of science and culture. Sharif University of Technology is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in Iran, often referred to as the country's premier engineering school.
This incident occurs amid heightened regional tensions and a series of strategic strikes aimed at degrading technological and military capabilities. Sharif University has historically been a focal point for Iran's advancements in aerospace, satellite technology, and cybernetics, making its infrastructure a high-priority target in the context of regional security dynamics. US President Donald Trump has previously signaled a policy of maximum pressure regarding the containment of technological advancements that could bolster regional military frameworks.
